STREET PASTOrs

Day: Fridays and Saturdays
Time: 10pm-4am
Venue: Cambridge City Centre

If you’re in the centre of Cambridge late on a Friday or Saturday night, come and say hi to the Street Pastors. We normally walk the streets as a team of four and can be recognised by our distinctive uniforms with the Street Pastor logo. Most incidents of alcohol-related violence and anti-social behaviour, and many Addenbrooke’s admissions, occur between 10pm and 4am, which is why we’re there to support anyone who needs help to get home, find their friends, be safe, or recover from drinking too much. We’re often a listening ear for people who want to talk through things that are bothering them.

There are 200 groups of Street Pastors across the UK, working with the encouragement of the police and local government officials. There’s been a team in Cambridge since March 2009; we’re all trained, CRB-checked volunteers from local churches.
